On the evening of Thursday 18 February, the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide's Stretton Institute hostedÌýthe inaugural Hugh Stretton Oration:ÌýOn Life's Lottery, featuring Professor Glyn Davis AC and a panel discussion held in the historic Elder Hall.
The event was the second in theÌýIn Conversation WithÌýseries, featuring global speakers and attendees.Ìý
The night began with a welcome by Professor Jacqueline Lo, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) of the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide. ThisÌýwelcome was followed by an opening address from Professor PeterÌýHøj AC, Vice-Chancellor of the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide.Ìý

Professor Glyn Davis AC joined the event virtually from Melbourne to speak on intergenerational poverty and the role of government and charities. After his Oration, the panellists took to the stage to join Professor Davis and discuss the topics just covered. Facilitated by Professor Lo, the panel discussion consisted of the Reverend Peter Sandeman, Anglican Canon for Social Justice and Advocacy, and Professor Faye McCallum, Head of the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide's School of Education.Ìý
Following the panel discussion, David Tune ASO PSM, Chair of the Stretton Institute Advisory Board, provided closing remarks, concluding the successful event.Ìý
