The Importance of Girls' Education: A Father's Perspective
Worldwide 129 million girls are out of school and only 49% of countries have achieved gender parityÌýin education. The opportunity for girls to have an education is paramount.
We know that investing in girls' education transforms families, communities and societies. ItÌýstrengthens economies and reduces inequality. Investment in girls' education results in less childÌýmortality, less maternal mortality, child marriage rates decline, the lifetime earnings of girlsÌýdramatically increase, and national growth rates rise. Education is a key pathway to equality. And equality of opportunity underpins this. We need to talkÌýabout the importance of girls' education for social equality. Imperative is paternal support. ComeÌýand hear from one father who raised his head above the parapet to fight for equality of opportunityÌýfor his daughter.
