'South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥'s Global Future' public forum with the Governor of South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥
On Friday 11 March, the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide convened a public panel discussion in Bonython Hall, with Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥.
South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥â€™s Global Future featured Professor Peter Høj AC, Vice-Chancellor & President of the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide and was facilitated by Professor Jacqueline Lo, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International). The forum included a keynote address by the Governor, followed by a panel discussion with leading South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ns:
- Ms Carolyn Hewson AO, Non-executive Director of the Reserve Bank of ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ and CSL Ltd and
- Mr Andrew Nunn, South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥n Chief Entrepreneur
The panel addressed the question of South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥â€™s global future and its position in the world post-COVID. The forum drew upon the unique perspectives of each panel member. They discussed topics encompassing the challenges and opportunities for growth, whilst simultaneously building a distinctive South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥n style of global engagement. Speakers also addressed the importance of developing a vision and strategies to help South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥â€™s industries such as agrifood and wine, defence, education, and resources thrive. Lively discussion also centred around renewable energy, human capital investment, creativity and innovation in South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥.
The event was well attended with participants from business, Government and the community, as well as staff, students and alumni from the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide.Â
