DR Stranks Travelling Fellowships 2022

Applications are now open for the 2022 DR Stranks Travelling Fellowship.

Established in 1987 following an endowment with contributions from the State, the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥, professional colleagues and friends, the postgraduate travelling fellowships commemorate the services rendered to the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ by Professor D R Stranks AO, Foundation Chair of Inorganic Chemistry 1964-1973 and Vice Chancellor of the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ 1977 to 1986.

Providing assistance for travel outside of South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥, applications must be submitted by 30 September 2022 in consultation with the Principal Supervisor for travel within the next 12 months.

Eligibility:

Students must:

  • be enrolled full-time in an approved research higher degree at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide
  • have been enrolled for more than 12 months at time of travel
  • provide reasons why research cannot be undertaken at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide

Applications will be assessed based on:

  • academic merit as well as other factors, such as
  • the essential nature of the travel to a scholar’s research project and
  • the likely benefit to be derived by the scholar and the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥. 

Please note, the fellowship will not be awarded:

  • to students who are in their first year of candidature, or their final year of candidature
  • where travel is not relevant to the research they are undertaking
  • where the request relates to conference attendance or conference presentations
  • where applications are retrospective
  • to international students requesting to travel to their home country

Value:  up to a maximum of $5,000
