Protecting tradies at high risk of deadly lung disease
New research will investigate ways to protect hundreds of thousands of ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥n workers who work with engineered and traditional stone materials from silicosis. The projects build on nearly 100 years of research by the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide into the deadly lung disease.

Silica is not the only hazard in engineered stone
While some engineered stone producers are promoting reduced-silica or silica-free products due to health concerns, researchers have found other substances in the material are damaging workers’ lungs.
