First detection of a collision between a neutron star and a black hole

A team of international scientists including experts from the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide has revealed an entirely new phenomenon in the Universe. They have detected the death spiral and merger of the two of the most extreme objects in the Universe, a neutron star and a black hole.

Insights into continuous waves from neutron stars

ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥n Researchers from the ARC Centre of Excellence for Gravitational Wave Discovery (OzGrav) team, which includes scientists from the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide, are close to detecting a new type of gravitational wave, which could provide insights into one of the strangest things in the Universe.
