New Quantum Materials and Device Labs Underway!
Located on the ground floor of the Physics building at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide, these upcoming world-class facilities will be cornerstones of our research infrastructure for quantum materials and device fabrication facilities. These laboratories are crucial additions to the Centre for Quantum Materials and Quantum Technologies (CQMQT), furthering our commitment to pushing the boundaries of quantum science and technology.
The CQMQT research focuses on the fundamental interaction of light and matter, applications in quantum communications, integrated quantum nanophotonics, and enhanced sensing with quantum devices. This includes developing semiconductor and superconductor-based quantum materials, integrating these materials into discrete devices or ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥, characterising these devices, and implementing them in proof-of-concept systems.
The ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide continues to provide strong support for the growing quantum materials and quantum technologies efforts on campus, including the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥â€™s infrastructure efforts here. These laboratories have also been supported by ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥n Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) programs in Directed Energy and Quantum Technologies.
We are also proud to be key partners in the newly established ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥n Centre for Quantum Growth. This consortium includes the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide via IPAS, along with most major ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥n research universities and leading commercial quantum companies. In this regard, our team at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide is led by , Director of the CQMQT, and .
Quantum research holds immense potential for groundbreaking technologies with profound economic and strategic implications.ÌýWe are excited to share this significant milestone.
