Professor Maier wins biannual medal at the MSSANZ
TheÌýModelling and Simulation Society of ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ and New Zealand Inc. (MSSANZ), awardsÌýoutstanding contributors every two years.
Professor Ìýwas awarded the medal this year for 'exceptional research contributions to modelling and simulation, and for promoting the aims of the Society'. He became a fellow of the Society in 2017 and was one of the Plenary Speakers featured at the ÌýCongress (the MSSANZ Biennial Congress).
Professor Maier's research is focused on developing improved techniques for the sustainable management of infrastructure, with a particular focus on water, energy and the water-energy nexus as well as natural resources, with a particular focus on water resources and natural hazards in an uncertain environment.
This includes elements of modelling, optimisation and decision support. He is currently theÌýÌýof the Economics and Strategic Decisions research cluster of the Bushfire and Natural Hazards Cooperative Research Centre, as well as theÌýÌýof a project focussed on the development of a decision support system for the assessment of policy and planning investment options for optimal natural hazard mitigation ().
Holger leads an internal ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide project on Collaborative Analysis for Secure, Alternative, Affordable Energy ().
