Interview with Dr Shiel- academic and artist

“What other job would let you sit for 16 hours a day sifting mud,...orinspecting the private parts of copepods?” - so says , an aquatic ecologist specialising in microfauna.

Dr Shiel is an expert in microscopic creatures that live in freshwater and seawater.He sits down with the Atlas of Living Ӱֱ to discuss his research and unique approach to species identification.

Using a blend of science and art, Dr Shiel creates spectacular images of microscopic subjects to elucidate fantastical features of our underwater friends.
