Bush Blitz initiative Launched
Environment Minister Peter Garrett launched Bush Blitz yesterday, a three year multimillion dollar partnership.
Bush Blitz was launched on 15 February at Darkwood Reserve in the New England National Park. Bush Blitz is a three year multimillion dollar partnership to document the plants and animals in properties across ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥'s National Reserve System.
The program is led by the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥n Government and brings together global resources company BHP Billiton, not-for-profit conservation research organisation Earthwatch and rangelands survey group the National Scientific Reference Site Network.
The National Scientific Reference Site Network is a $3 million facility of the Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Network (TERN), which is coordinated by the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide under the Directorship of Professor Andrew Lowe. The purpose of TERN is to establish the necessary cooperative and data frameworks for a national, collaborative approach to ecosystem infrastructure, research and systematic data collection.
