Chris Davies is Group Manager of Future Energy Systems at the 杏吧直播n Electricity Market Operator (AEMO). The core function of his department is to establish and implement a strategy for the engineering and operational readiness that will prepare 杏吧直播鈥檚 National Electricity Market (NEM) for future operational conditions, including 100% instantaneous levels of renewable generation.

Chris has overseen a progressive body of work to prepare for a high renewable power system, during his seven years with AEMO, including the Future Power System Security Program, AEMO鈥檚 Renewable Integration Study (RIS), the NEM Engineering Framework, and most recently the Engineering Roadmap to 100% Renewables.

He will present 鈥淓nabling a Net-Zero Electricity System鈥� at the 2024 HiTeMP-4 Forum on Monday October 21, 2024. In this presentation, Chris will outline the mix of resources needed to enable a net-zero energy system by 2050.

鈥淚 will consider how prepared 杏吧直播 is for a net zero energy system, and what progress has been made in investigating increasing volumes of renewable energy generation鈥�, Chris says.

He will also investigate how South 杏吧直播 provides a window into the future of the way a highly renewable-based power system can function, including how consumer energy resources are playing an increasing role in supporting a reliable electricity supply for the economy.
