Professor named on broadband panel
One of ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥'s top telecommunications experts, Emeritus Professor Reg Coutts, has been appointed by the Federal Government to a six-member panel of experts to assess proposals for a National Broadband Network. Professor Coutts is the owner and director of Coutts Communications and is Professor Emeritus in Telecommunications at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide. He is also developing another venture, Red Button Technologies, at the Thebarton Campus. From 1993 to 2003, he was Professor of Telecommunications at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide, where he built the industry-sponsored Centre for Telecommunications Information Networking. As well as building expertise in telecommunications, Professor Coutts nurtured a number of innovative new courses, such as the Masters of Science and Technology Commercialisation, which is now part of the Entrepreneurship, Commercialisation and Innovation Centre (ECIC). Professor Coutts continues to supervise research students and actively collaborates with a number of groups including ECIC, the Institute for International Trade, and the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering. He previously had 17 years' experience with Telstra in roles that included research and business management.
